Richard P. Coxey, M.Sc.Avn.

Richard P. Coxey has more than 35 years of multifaceted background in the aviation industry and flight operations in addition to diversified administrative posts concerned with aviation safety. His background encompasses positions as a Commercial Airline Captain, Flight Instructor, Flight Engineer and Air Traffic Controller, with 20,400 hours of flight time, as well as Principal Operations Safety Inspector with the FAA. Richard Coxey holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Washington International College and a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Captain Coxey holds ATPL, CFII, MEI, FEX,and ATC licensure and advanced type ratings for the DC10, L1011, B727, B737, B757, B767, L1329 and G159 aircraft.

Captain Coxey is a graduate of the Aircraft Accident Investigation, Human Factors in Aviation Safety and Aviation Safety Program Management courses at the University of Southern California Safety Institute. He has qualified as an expert witness and accident reconstruction expert in more than 50 federal trials involving aircraft accidents, including the Aero Mexico midair collision, Cerritos, Calif., Avianca DC8 crash at JFK, and the Sky West midair collision over Salt Lake City, UT. Captain Coxey has participated on the Accident Investigation Team of three major aircraft accidents: National Airlines, Pensacola, FL; Pan American, Kenner, LA; and the Air Florida Crash, Washington, D.C., including transcribing the cockpit voice recorder and aircraft flight data recorder on both accidents. He is a member of the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) and the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI). Rich Coxey is concerned with all aspects of aviation safety and aircraft accident investigation.
