AVIATION SAFETY AUDITS AND RISK MANAGEMENTRisk Assessment deals with the identification of hazards and assessment of the risk associated with such hazards. Forensic Aerospace uses both qualitative (based on ranking of risks) and quantified (based on probabilistic techniques) methods for risk assessment depending on vulnerability and complexity of the consequences. We conduct risk assessment from a total systems and environmental approach where technical, safety of flight, environmental, financial, and regulatory risks are considered simultaneously to provide the client with an optimal solution. We are able to offer this comprehensive risk assessment service to the insurance industry and air transportation market sectors. We have the necessary operational experience, industry expertise, and analysis tools to conduct internal safety audits, continuous operational risk assessments, and provide operational quality assurance programs. We can assist in, or develop programs for corporate, business, or commercial flight operations. Internal safety audits conducted by FAA identify organizational influences, inadequate supervision, preconditions for unsafe operations, latent decision, skill-based or perceptual human errors, and safety violations. Once these factors have been determined using industry-standard and state-of-the-art methodologies, corrective action, training, and procedural modifications can be effected to reduce the chance of a mishap or accident occurrence. FAA can develop a continuous operational risk assessment and operational quality assurance plans. Use of continuous risk assessment and quality assurance plans provides for a reduced mishap, accident, or incident rate and leads to lower costs of operations and insurance. Comprehensive external safety audits of vendors and suppliers are part of the overall quality assurance program. Our risk assessment and safety audit program includes a comprehensive examination of:
Typically, two aviation safety analysts are assigned to the audit, one for flight operations and one for maintenance. Generally, the operations analyst is either experience or type rated in the client's operational aircraft or assisted by an affiliate that is type rated for that aircraft; the maintenance analyst is a certificated aviation maintenance technician with an inspection authorization and experienced in the type of maintenance operations required for the category, class, and type aircraft operated by the client. |
